Implementation of the Activity

This was the first face to face meeting of the partners. For every partner schools there were 4 students and 2 teachers. For the host school, there were more teachers and students.

Except for the presentations of their schools and of the situation of biogas and compost in their own countries, the students worked exclusively in mixed international groups.

The tasks assigned were connected to the topic of the project – ecology:

1. Presentation of the situation of bioenergy, biogas and compost in their own country

2. Visit to the Sewerage Board of Limassol – students took photos of what they saw during the visit and sent the most relevant ones for a contest judged by the accompanying teachers.

3. Visit to the host school – Lykeio Agiou Ioannis in Limassol

4. Photo contest after the visit to the Sewerage Board in Limassol

5. Think like journalists and create the front page of a newspaper about environmental issues

6. Think like scientists and assign various types of renewable energy to different counties of Cyprus

Cultural activities:

1. Create mini-plays about some historic scenes

2. Cyprus night – come into contact with Cypriot culture by means of traditional food, music and dances

3. Games night - competition among students, requiring spontaneity and fostering critical thinking

4. International night – come into contact with the cultures of the other partners by means of traditional food, music and dances

5. Feedback session about the entire mobility and the opportunity offered by the Erasmus+ program

Educational visits:

1. Treasure hunt in Pissouri village

2. Visit to Petra Tou Romiou – considered the birthplace of goddess Aphrodite

3. Visit to the Paphos Mosaics which illustrate scenes from Greek mythology

The international students who took part in the mobility were exempted from school for this week and they will take their lessons and homework from their classmates and/or from the online platform used by the school (Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Zoom etc.).

The international teachers had replacements in their schools for the classes they missed this week.

The local students are in the same situation, but some of them had classes online in the evening, to try to partially keep up with the lessons.

The local teachers took turns to be present to the activities, being with the international group for one day or a part of the day.

- Working in international groups fostered bonding between the students, who could interact with their peers from the partners countries, to talk about their educational systems, about their interests and preferences, to see what is similar and what is different. The groups were changed quite frequently, in order to encourage student interaction on a large scale and to get to meet one another. They improved their communication skills and their level of English, became more confident and less shy. They learnt how to work in a team, to repsect every member's opinion and suggestion and to come to a common agreement for the good of the tasks assigned. They used their creativity and out-of-the-box thinking in order to produce their posters. Not surprisingly, every team had other ideas compared to the others, which shows originality and innovation.

- The ecological tasks raised awareness among the participants about the importance of using green energy in order to reduce the harm done on the planet on a daily basis, especially because of pollution (air, water) and waste.

- The cultural activities contributed to becoming more open-minded and tolerant of the others, to find similarities amongst themselves and to appreciate what is different.

- The educational visits gave the participants the opportunity to see wonderful unique places, specific to the area, tightly connected to the history of the host country.

- On the whole, it was a very successful mobility for everyone, with unforgettable memories and stories to share with their peers back home.
