Our school, the 4th General Lyceum of Chania, is an urban school, located in the city centre. It has 316 students, aged 15-18, and 42 teachers. There are 17 classrooms, two computer science laboratories, one science laboratory, a fully equipped library and an indoors gym with a basketball and a volleyball court. Our students come from different social and financial backgrounds, some of them are immigrants and some come from single-parent families, so the school's efforts focus on the integration of all the students into the social context of the school community. These efforts have so far been successful since our school has managed for years to be among the first in our region, in the percentage of students who successfully pass the tough university entrance exams, due to the hard and conscientious work of the teaching staff and the support of the students' families.

We have a deep experience of organizing workshops, study cases and lessons plans for scientific topics. We focus on our research for new, modernized teaching methods. Since the "S.T.E.M. methodology is nowadays the new educational weapon to increase students' interest in mathematics and natural sciences, we have already started working on this direction. The majority of the aforementioned programs take place in extra-curriculum hours, with the voluntary work of both teachers and students, making it possible to enhance the feelings of cooperation and personal relationships. As a matter of fact they have been proven to be examples of good teaching practices we can share with our partners from the project
