Program of the LTT Activity in Romania
Implementation of the LTT in Romania
This was the sixth and last face to face meeting of the partners. For every partner schools there were on average 4 students and 2 teachers. For the host school, there were 8 teachers and 19 students. Every partner school had to prepare, unlike before, a report-like video about an environmental issue affecting their country. The goal was to see what is similar and what is different in the partner countries from this point of view.
The programme of the activities was the following:
DAY 1: Tuesday, 27th June
- Welcome speeches, visit of the school grounds and the gym
- Watch the report-like videos brought from home: each partner country selected a different ecological issue: floods, deforestations, landslides, waste, over-tourism, and river pollution.
- In the afternoon, mixed international groups, led by the local students, went on 4 different walking tours around the city centre of Iasi to identify some landmarks, take group selfies in front of them and look for some information about each landmark. The information selected would be presented on the last day of this mobility.
- During the walking tours, the teachers held their usual coordinators' meeting.
DAY 2: Wednesday, 28th June
- Visit to the village of Dumesti, for a painting session by the lake. We were greeted by the mayor who was glad that we chose this village to be a partner in our project activities. The students worked in their national groups to paint the lake in two versions: clean, natural, protected by the people VERSUS dirty, polluted and damaged.
- In the afternoon, back in the city of Iasi, the group went on a visit to the Palace of Culture, symbol of the city of Iasi, where they could observe 2 of the 4 museums within it, the Ethnography Museum and the Science and Technology one. This way, the international participants could get a glimpse of the Romanian culture.
DAY 3: Thursday, 29th June
- Pottery workshop in Cucuteni – a region known for its ceramics products and specific patterns displayed on them. The international students could create their own ceramics (bowls, coasters, ashtrays, etc.) including the traditional Romanian pattern typical for this region.
- Cultural visit to the Sturdza Castle in Miclauseni village, a page of Romanian history explained in an enchanting way by the guide.
DAY 4: Friday, 30th June
- Practical activity in the Botanical Garden in Iasi: mixed international groups addressed some questions regarding ecology to the visitors they encountered in the Botanical Garden. The local students were the translators, both for their international colleagues and for the visitors in the garden. The answers received were presented later in the day.
- In the afternoon, socializing with the Romanian students and teachers
- Presentation of the information about the landmarks identified on the first day during the walking tours
- Presentation of the answers received from the visitors in the Botanical Garden.
- Certificates ceremony and farewell dinner
